(A golden baboon spider from Caring for your new tarantula)
Someone who owned one of these here in the NYC area turned it over to the SPCA this week. It has a new home in a sanctuary somewhere in MA (I have to admit that I'm glad it's out of my state.).
It sounds like the owner became afraid of the ~5" bodied spider with 1/2" fangs that can jump 3' after it rears up on its hind legs. Oh, and it's known for its aggressive nature. It's often referred to as "OBT," short for "orange bitey thing."
It's an amazing creature I could never have.
