The People Tasers Hit

A teenager is tased (or here) for running away:
CORNING - Officers were flagged down at 10:43 a.m. Saturday by a citizen who wanted to report suspicious activity, the Corning Police Department said.

The person saw two boys abandon a bicycle by Lyndon Johnson Motors on Solano Street and thought it might be stolen.

The person pointed out the boys, a 14-year-old from Los Molinos and a 17-year-old from Cottonwood, who ran from the officers south from the area of Clark's Drug Store to the Heritage RV Park, CPD said.

Neither stopped when ordered to by an officer who deployed his Taser, hitting one of the boys on the right side near his ribs, CPD said. The boy continued to run.

With the assistance of Tehama County deputies and California Highway Patrol officers and helicopter the two boys were taken into custody.

One was located in the Heritage RV Park, and the other in trees and bushes just south of the RV park.

One admitted to stealing the abandoned bike from a residence on Solano Street.

Both were reported as runaways and were in violation of probation, police said.

They were taken to St. Elizabeth Community Hospital for medical clearance and then booked into Tehama County Juvenile Hall.

This isn't the first time the Corning, CA police have tased a teen. Back in 2007 a 15-year-old was taser (clipped here) for running away.

A cop doesn't usually shoot someone with a handgun for running away right? So tell me again, how are tasers replacing guns?
