Infotainment?

It's nice that the AP has an entertainment writer,
Jake Coyle(watch out for pop-ups), covering Bush's behavior at G8. Is sexual harassment perpetrated by our commander in chief entertainment news? That's pretty interesting.

Coyle apparently can't resist being trendy and takes an oddly placed shot at bloggers:

Many writers saw a sexist aspect to Bush's back rub. "This isn't a Sigma Chi kegger, it's the G-8 Summit," wrote blogger Christy Hardin Smith on Firedoglake.com.
(Bush was actually in Delta Kappa Epsilon. Another Web 2.0 truism: Blogs are not always friendly with the facts.)

Huh? How can an AP reporter read that quote from firedoglake and miss that it's sarcasm? It's more likely that the awkward parenthetical communique reveals Coyle's feeling about bloggers. Was the article written around this quip? Why would an entertainment reporter feel threatened by those blogging on politics?
