American Idol Dad/Politician/Model/Lawyer/Fundy/Bully

Massachusetts state senator Scott Brown (R) can really do it all (summarized below). But, the gay marriage opponent became unhinged at a high school appearance while reading quips from a student's blog about him and his family. From the link:
Sen. Scott Brown was discussing his stance on gay marriage during an assembly at King Philip Regional High School on Thursday when he decided to share the comments written about him and his family posted on a facebook.com page dedicated to a pro-gay rights history teacher at the school.
Brown, a Republican from Wrentham, opposes gay marriage.

"I hate scott brown" and "scott brown ascends from the underworld," were two of the tamer comments on the site. Others contained profanities.

Some of the comments were aimed at Brown's daughter, Ayla Brown, a former American Idol finalist.

He read the comments verbatim, even naming the students who wrote them in some cases, witnesses said.

"He was doing it loudly and pretty angrily," student Rachel William told WHDH-TV. "Some of the teachers tried to stop him, and said things like 'You shouldn't be naming students.'"

Student Stephen Small said "Some teachers immediately were outraged to hear the language that was used ... some people still feel it was inappropriate to read them word for word."
Brown defended himself.

"What I was doing was reading from what they had written about me and about my family," Brown said. "I actually called them on it. I said 'Now there's hate speech and then there's respectful proper speech."

Called them on it? No Senator Brown, you childishly responded to children behaving like children.

There's something about being a homophobe, racist, or misogynist that goes hand in hand with not being able to think clearly. Brown had a chance to engage a group of kids and present his views on gay marriage.

Instead he angrily presented them obscene quotes from a facebook website. He ignored teachers trying to stop him, bullying forward and "calling them on it" by naming the student commenters. Way to go tough guy. Nothing gets through to a group of kids like an adult yelling at them. He probably improved the social status of the kids he named, especially if their comments were naughty and even a little clever.

Brown's Wikipedia entry contains this paragraph:
Senator Brown received the “Public Servant of the Year” Award from the United Chamber of Commerce for his leadership in reforming the state’s sex offender laws and protecting the rights of victims. Senator Brown is an outspoken advocate for victims of sexual abuse and a tireless supporter of veterans’ causes.
If I were to put on my fundy hat for a second, I would ask, "does the behavior of such a noble, god fearing man usually include exposing adolescents to obscenities above and beyond what they're already exposed to in the Devil's secular humanist world?"

And shouldn't a public figure (state senator, former male model, and Cosmo's 1982 sexiest man of the year) have thicker skin? From that link about the Cosmo item:
A major in the National Guard and an accomplished athlete, Brown has had a varied career. As a former model, Brown was voted sexiest man in America by Cosmopolitan magazine in 1982. He has maintained his law practice while a state representative and says he intends to serve no more than four terms in the seat if elected on Tuesday.

Apart from all of that, and call me an "anti-male model lawyer politician jock heterophobe", but as a gay person, I don't love "straight male model lawyer politician jocks" with charmed lives lecturing on the evils of a civil right currently denied to me. It makes me feel like I'm taking crazy pills.
