Non-white Jesus

As American fundies continue to go crazy (really, another great post by Pam) over homosexuality, it's comforting to know that the guy they pray to wasn't white. A picture (by a forensic artist) of what someone from the time and place of Jesus likely looked like:


Why is that comforting? Many members of the religious right picketing gay events are the same people
equating black people and primates. It's always nice to connect the dots of hatemongers' beliefs and find nothing but a Rorschach.

It's telling (more like suspicion confirming) that even the less extreme fundamentalists I've encountered became upset when the potential race of Jesus was brought up.

It's time to start wearing my "Jesus wasn't white" tee-shirt again.
